Eivissa Jazz reaches its XXXI edition, which will be held in different places of Vila between September 3 and 7. The first two concerts will be for free and for the rest of the days you can buy tickets through the online web page of the City Council of Ibiza, in Can Ventosa and at the ticket office before the concert.
On day 3, at 9h30 pm, in Vara de Rey it will be the turn of Natural Focus, a jazz duo with rock and electronic influences, formed by two of the members of Threejay Trio, who already performed at the festival of the year 2014. This is the Ibizan drummer Juan Carlos Marino and keyboardist Joan Solana.
The second day will begin at 9 pm in Sotamurada square, on the 4th of September. It will be the turn of the Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa that has been captivating the Ibizan public for two years in this space recovered for the city. At 10 pm, José Carra Trío will perform, a formation headed by one of the most creative pianists of the new jazz scene with influences of classical, pop, electronic or popular music but also of other artistic disciplines such as poetry.
The first two days of concerts will be free and, from day 5 the concerts change location to go to the bastion of Santa Lucia where all the concerts will be paid. The ticket price for each double concert night is € 12.
On day 5, at 9h30 pm the singer Miryam Latrece will perform a very elegant proposal that travels through the boundaries between R’n’B and jazz with a natural delicacy. At 10h30 pm it will be the turn of the Eivissa Jazz Experience, in a sextet format. The proposal led by Abe Rábade is still unknown. Every year, the musicians summoned by the pianist come together to shape a unique and unrepeatable concert.
On the 6th of September, at 9h30 pm Kiko Berenguer’s concert will arrive. The saxophonist of Jávea (Alicante) is an explosive and charismatic musician who explores styles such as flamenco or jazz to achieve a personal language full of emotions. At 10h30 pm one of the main dishes of the festival arrives. Martirio and Chano Domínguez promise not to leave anyone indifferent.
Perhaps many people know Martirio in his role as a coplist and remember for his wonderful sunglasses. What many people do not know is that it moves in jazz as if it were its natural environment. At the Eivissa Jazz concert, together with Chano Domínguez, they will offer a tribute to the Cuban singer-songwriter Ignacio Jacinto Villa Fernández, better known as ‘Snowball’.
The last day the festival will make a musical trip to Italy. At 9h30 pm, Claudio Jr. De Rosa Quartet will perform, the brand-new winners of the Getxo Jazz festival band contest that, as every year, as part of the Basque event prize, will play at the Ibiza Jazz. And, at 10h30 pm, a memorable concert to conclude this year’s festival. It will be the one offered by the Italian pianist Stefano Bollani with his ‘Napoli Trip’.
With this project, Bollani wants to convey the cheerful and funny character of the Neapolitans, accustomed to surviving despite everyone. An island character and a jazz spirit with which the Ibicencos can feel very represented.
