The festivities of Sant Antoni de Portmany start with the proclamation of parties by Bartolo Torres and will continue until March 15 with numerous activities for all audiences.
The first important event of the festivities is the great Super Flower Fabulous party, which is celebrated on Saturday, January 11 to relive one more year the great musical successes of the 60s and 70s. As a novelty of this year, the day It will start at 12 noon with a hippy market, a children’s party and musical performances throughout the day at the Passeig de ses Fonts. Starting at 10 pm, the big party will be enlivened in the tent by El Fabuloso with artists Carlos Areces, Silvia Superstar, Lola Von Dage and Herter & Skelter.
The big day of Sant Antoni also comes with novelties, since the traditional events are added this year the Sant Antoni Trucks Festival from 13 hours at the end of the port, with live outdoor performances, ‘food trucks’ and many surprises, which will conclude with a concert of the Smoking Stones at 21.30. The traditional events will begin at 12 noon with the Mass, the procession, the blessing of the animals, the parade of traditional cars and the ball pagès by Colla Brisa de Portmany.
On January 16, as a novelty, the Rolling Stones exhibition is also inaugurated at the Far de ses Coves Blanques, with a collection of 200 pieces by Alberto Sánchez-Rude, which will previously feature an explanatory talk by journalists Mariskal Romero and Mariano Muniesa at the Cervantes Cultural Center. The program also includes consolidated events such as the XXXIX Dance and Music Festival on January 12 at the Regio Cinema, the XVII Guateque ‘Anem de palanca’ (January 18) or La Movida (February 8) with the theme ‘Urban Tribes ‘. It also repeats for the second consecutive year, on February 22 and 23, the Rock Island Festival, which this year will feature the participation of the national groups Red Beard, Jodie Cash Fingers and The Soul Jacket, in addition to local bands Billy Flamingos and the Fat Gumbo Bradley trio.
The Sant Antoni festivities host other classics such as the Kite Festival ‘Posa un estel al cel’; the XVI edition of the traditional Sant Antoni Rural and the IX edition of the Verro Olímpic, which this year includes the first ‘Verro Kids’; the 19th Marxa bicycle tour des Porquet, the night walk to Santa Agnès ‘Anem de lluna i mirem-nos sa sa flor’ or the Survival Zombie.
