LET’S GET TO KNOW THE MOST BEAUTIFUL “VILLAGES” OF FORMENTERA

Do you know the island of Formentera? Regardless of whether you visit it in winter or summer, on your getaway to the smallest of the Pitiusas you cannot miss a tour of its main towns. Although it is important to specify that the island of Formentera is administratively made up of a single municipality, also called Formentera, which includes the islets of Espalmador and Espardell. In that case, below, we select some of the towns (referring to urban centers and not municipalities) that you should visit on your trip to the island.

SAN FRANCESC XAVIER: THE “CAPITAL” OF THE ISLAND

It is the “capital” of the island, where you can find a wide variety of services such as shops, restaurants and bars. It is one of the most iconic areas of Formentera and to understand why we say it, just take a walk through its white streets and its main square, presided over by the church of San Francisco (built in the 18th century) and its charming town hall. It is worth taking a stroll through the town at sunset, looking at its charming boho-style shops. Finish the visit by sitting for a few minutes in its square, where you will observe the constant coming and going of tourists and locals who recreate an irresistible atmosphere.

ES CALÓ DE SANT AGUSTÍ: A COQUETOUS FISHING TOWN

Es Caló is a quiet urban nucleus made up of small houses, shops and restaurants. The magic and charm of this town is found in the peculiar piers that dot its coast, with waters of an intense turquoise color in which to enjoy a pleasant bath in the warmer months. In addition, a few meters walking from here, you can find beautiful white sand coves where you will want to stay for life. With just 500 inhabitants, Es Caló de Sant Agustí is undoubtedly one of the most authentic spots in Formentera.

ES PUJOLS: LET THE PARTY BEGIN

From the attractive calm of Es Caló, we pass to one of the most visited towns in Formentera: Es Pujols, undoubtedly the busiest on the island. What truly falls in love with Es Pujols are its extensive beaches with crystal clear waters and white sand. Another of the things that most attracts tourists is its leisure area. And it is that the good atmosphere of Es Pujols is unsurpassed, with all kinds of services for the enjoyment of visitors: shops, bars, restaurants, pubs, hotels … This small town has everything you could wish for to live a few unique days!

EL PILAR DE LA MOLA: A PLACE TO DISCONNECT

Located just 12 km from the port of La Savina, Pilar de la Mola is located in the highest area of the island, as if it were a privileged watchtower. It has around a thousand inhabitants and is very popular for its lighthouse and its spectacular cliffs, as well as for its market, which fills the area with color and good vibes every Wednesday and Sunday. SANT FERRAN DE SES ROQUES: THE LAST HIPPIE REDUCTION ON THE ISLAND

If you want to relive the most hippie side of the island, you must pass through Sant Ferrán de Ses Roques. The first hippies of the island lived here, which turned this municipality into a magical and absolutely unique place in the world. The famous Fonda Pepe, a mythical place on the island, has always been a meeting point for the inhabitants of the area. Artists of the stature of Bob Dylan or the Pink Floyd band have stayed there.
