CRISTINA FERRER PRESENTS A PAINTING EXHIBITION INSPIRED BY THE LANDSCAPES AND CUSTOMS OF THE PITIUSAS
The Santa Eulalia del Río Exhibition Hall, located on Sant Jaume street, is hosting a new oil painting exhibition with 30 works by the Ibizan artist Cristina Ferrer, inspired by the landscapes and customs of the Pitiusas.
Art lovers will be able to enjoy this exhibition from Tuesday to Saturday, from September 10 to October 7, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. The exhibition consists of 30 oil paintings on canvases ranging from 55 x 45 cm to 100 x 200 cm.
Cristina Ferrer is from Ibiza, a self-taught painter with training from several teachers, both from the islands and internationally. Her artistic work focuses on the oil on canvas technique and she herself affirms that hers is a realistic style with impressionist touches. “I usually paint about the islands of Ibiza and Formentera: their people, their culture, their architecture, their landscape … We have such a broad theme on our islands that I don’t know how to focus on a single theme, everything makes me fall in love,” she explains.
In this particular collection, Ferrer acknowledges that her greatest inspiration has been “the magical light of the islands and their colors”, but “she has also been greatly influenced by receiving classes from great masters, such as the Russian painter Vladimir Volegov, considered one of the best in the world today and nicknamed the painter of light ”. In this exhibition, the artist aims to convey the strength of the color of the islands and her passion for them: “I am in love with the Pitiusas and that is what I want to see in my paintings,” she indicates.
The sample compiles works of Ferrer’s different artistic stages, since it is the first individual cultural exhibition that he holds in the municipality of Santa Eulalia and it is a good opportunity for the public to learn about her career. But, of the 30 canvases on display, Cristina Ferrer shows a clear predilection for the paintings in which she has portrayed her daughter Norma: “they inspire me with a lot of sweetness and passion,” she says.
The 30 exhibited works are for sale. Those interested in acquiring them can visit the artist’s Instagram page, where they will find the catalog, or contact her through the email firstname.lastname@example.org. The entrance to the exhibition is free and the capacity is limited. Remember that you must respect all current security measures, use a mask and maintain social distance.
