Visit to the Can Ros Ethnographic Museum
In the Puig de Missa of Santa Eulalia del Río is the Can Ros Ethnographic Museum, an old peasant house enabled as a museum of local ethnography.
Can Ros is a good example of rural Ibizan architecture, with the “porxo” (main room), the kitchen, the different “sleeping cases” (rooms), the oil mill, the “porxet” above (balcony), the well and the cistern. Adapting to the demands of the space, a permanent exhibition has been arranged, sometimes in a scenographic way, if the room and the pieces allow it, and others through showcases or various exhibitors.
This exhibition ranges from clothing and jewellery to a multitude of household objects used in farmhouses, utensils from the fields and from specific trades or tasks, musical instruments, weapons and objects for personal use.
This permanent exhibition is completed by temporary monographic exhibitions, as well as the holding of craft workshops, an activity in which various traditional artisans show us the making of musical instruments, clothing, espadrilles, toys and objects made from vegetable fibres. During the visit to the Can Ros Ethnographic Museum, you can request to see some of the videos of a historical – ethnographic nature that make up the videography collection.
