World Environment Day
The Ibiza City Council has organized a cycle of guided walks to celebrate World Environment Day, next Saturday, June 5. These are walks led by the naturalist Jordi Serapio, where you can learn about the animal and plant species that live among us and get to know why it is important to ensure their conservation.
Among the activities to commemorate this day, there will also be a workshop to experiment with dry Posidonia, which will be in charge of the Architect.
The first of the departures will be to observe the birdlife of our city and will take place on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An interpretive route that aims to publicize the importance of preserving urban biodiversity, learn to identify it, and deal with its problems. It is recommended that attendees carry binoculars.
On Sunday, June 6, in Plaza Antoni Albert i Nieto there will be two workshops from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: One will be ‘Suerte de Posidonia’, an activity to celebrate how lucky we are to have this exceptional plant that oxygenates our sea, declared a World Heritage Site and in which you will experiment with dry Posidonia. The other will be a nest box workshop, where both boys and girls and families will be shown how to build their own nest boxes that will then be placed in a garden area to help birds from the city of Ibiza to nest.
On Saturday, June 12, a walk through Ses Feixes has been organized to learn about its potential as a habitat for unique plants and animals and to discuss the need for their recovery and preservation. The activity hours are from 10 am to 1 pm.
Finally, on Saturday, June 19, there will be an outing through Es Soto, a space of nature at the foot of the walls and before the spectacular panoramic view of the port of Ibiza, the islets of Malvins and Formentera. This privileged space will be used to learn about its environmental values and also some curiosities. Places for all activities are limited.
