Festivities of Es Canar
Next Saturday July 10, Es Canar celebrates the day of its patron, San Cristóbal. This year the festivities, as happened in 2020, partially modify their program in order to be one more element of incentive for the activity of the restaurants in the area, one of the groups most affected by the coronavirus crisis. Thus, without forgetting traditional issues such as mass and the parade of cars, part of the musical performances are transferred to the establishments of the area, just as the multitudinous paella becomes the II Paella World Fair. The full program includes activities this weekend and Saturday, July 17.
The first of the activities is scheduled for the 10th and will consist of the traditional Mass in the chapel of es Canar, which this year will return to its usual schedule, that is, it will take place at 11 am. Then, at approximately 11:45 am, the blessing and the parade of decked-out cars will take place through the main streets of the town.
Then, at 1 p.m., the ‘II World Paella Fair’ will start which, for the second consecutive year and due to the health crisis caused by covid-19, will be held in collaboration with some local restaurants in the town, with the intention of avoiding the possible crowds that could produce the celebration of the traditional multitudinous paella for neighbors and visitors. In addition, the Fira can attract more potential clients and help improve the cash of the day, a small relief for this type of business. In total, 14 establishments will join the initiative with popular prices for paella portions (12 euros) and half portions (8 euros).
Also at 1:00 p.m., the micro-concerts planned for the weekend will begin, also in restaurants in the town and with the same objective of being one more element of interest to generate visits from potential clients. In total, 23 establishments participate in this initiative, and between Saturday and Sunday there will be 58 performances.
To end the activities on Saturday, in the afternoon there will be a series of children’s games led by the clown Cachirulo and his friends, which will take place in front of the Solimar restaurant.
On Sunday, from 10 am, a series of nautical activities will take place on the beach of es Canar, in which all the public can participate and which is organized by the Club Nàutic de Santa Eulària. These will consist of a maritime tour in dinghy sailing with a shrimp-type boat, as well as being able to windsurf in the bay itself. Again, at 1 pm, the musical performances will begin in the establishments of es Canar.
To finish, on Saturday, July 17, the Santa Eulària des Riu City Council, in collaboration with Walk&Talk Ibiza, have scheduled an 11-kilometer walk, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will depart from Es Canar (specifically from the Fountain of the Plaza de es Canar) and you will go to Sant Carles. This will be developed by coastal and inland areas while visiting different heritage elements of the municipality. The approximate duration is about three hours and will have a medium difficulty. To participate, prior registration is required through firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 971 330 728.
