Festivities of Santa Agnès de Corona
The Sant Antoni Town Hall presents the Patron Saint Festivities of Santa Agnès de Corona that begin on Sunday, January 19 and will last until March 1.
Among the most anticipated events is the Contest of sofrit pagès Festes de Corona, which celebrates its second edition on January 25 and that the first year already registered a great success. This year, the day comes with the novelty of the ‘Nit de Rock’, which will take place in the town square, in front of the church, so the party will continue with the musical performances of Storm Riders, Pasados de Vuelta and Dj Víctor from 6 PM.
Among the most outstanding activities is the Festa de sa Sitja de sa Rota d’en Coca, which will take place on February 28 and 29 and on March 1, a conference that will host the traditional lighting of the sitja, as well as a exhibition of old tools and machinery, demonstration of fieldwork or a craft show, as well as a pagesa party in collaboration with sa Colla de Sant Rafel (February 28) and a popular festival ‘Es de Corona feim colla’ (29 de February) with ball pagès and performance of the Glossadors of Menorca. During the weekend, attendees will be able to enjoy the ambitious sobrassada flirts and participate in the dry stone wall restoration days or in the ametlles trencar contest. In addition, this year there will be a demonstration of manufacturing rustic garden furniture made with chainsaws.
The big day of Santa Agnès is celebrated on January 21 from 12 noon with the celebration of the solemn mass, the procession, ball pagès and parade of traditional cars. In the afternoon, the activities will continue with the theatrical performance ‘Es festeig de Can Panxo’ of the Grup de Teatre of the Association of Vecinos des Molí. The festivities also host consolidated events such as the Festa de s’Ametller de Corona (February 2), the night walk ‘Anem de lluna i mirem-nos sa flor’ (February 7), the children’s party run by the APIMA of Santa Agnès (February 9) or the IX Cursa Flor d’Ametller (February 23).
