Ibiza International Music Festival

The twenty-third edition of the International Music Festival of Ibiza will be held from August 24 to September 7, with luxury guests.

On Saturday, August 24, Antonio Baciero, the last master of the gold generation of Spanish pianists, will offer a recital with works by Bach, Liszt, the first audition on the island of Variations on the theme Mio caro Adone de Salieri, composed by Mozart and the Sonata op. 111 of Beethoven, last sonata when the composer was almost deaf, authentic tour de force and pre-Romanesque legacy.

On Sunday, August 25, the Festival proposes the scoop of listening in Ibiza to the integral of the Callada Music (1951-1967), a reference work by Frederic Mompou and all the piano literature. The pianist Sira Hernández, an expert in Mompou and who has recorded this work (Solfa Recordings, 2014) will offer an intimate evening with Antonio Colinas, National Prize for Literature, with verses from San Juan de la Cruz.

On Thursday, August 29, and in the Church of Sant Carles, the Italian organist Giampaolo di Rosa, head of the National Church of Portugal in Rome, Italy, will offer a concert with six world premieres, based on symphonic improvisations on popular songs from Ibiza.

On Friday, August 30, the great Chinese lady Mary Wu, named the best piano pianist and teacher in China, returns to Sant Carles. She will offer a concert with the poetry of Antonio Colinas, which will include works by Beethoven, Granados, Debussy, Wai-Chung Tang.

As it is a tradition and as part of the prize obtained in the last edition of the Contest, the first prizes, youth and adult, return to Ibiza. Thus, on Saturday, August 31, Miguel Iglesias, First Youth Prize XXII Contest 2017, will show his enormous teenage talent with a passionate recital with works by Bach, Haydn, Scriabin, Schumann and Liszt. On Sunday, September 1, Taiwanese Shih-Hsien Yeh, First Prize XXII Contest 2017, will offer an energetic and virtuous concert with works by Bach, Beethoven, Ravel and Chopin.

To close the Festival, on Saturday, September 7, the Municipal Music Band of Santa Eulària des Riu will offer a concert called the Pop-Rock Symphony, with works by Benny Goodman, Michael Jackson and Queen, among others.

All concerts are held in the parish of Sant Carles and the organ concert in the church. Admission is free for minors and for the band’s concert and a donation of € 5 is requested for the remaining concerts.
