Medieval Market in small format
The Ibiza City Council has organized various outdoor activities to celebrate this year Medieval Market in a small format from May 7 to 9.
Although due to the health situation, the traditional market will not be able to be installed, the Ibiza City Council has wanted to celebrate Medieval Market, commemorating the Declaration of Ibiza as a World Heritage Site, with the “Little Medieval” program, three days with activities between which will include theatre, medieval music, dance shows, storytelling and guided tours of Dalt Vila. All the shows will take place in the Reina Sofía Park.
The activities of the Medieval Market will begin on Friday, May 7 at 11:30 am with the puppet show ‘Arriben les Pirates!’. At 1:30 pm there will be a children’s theatre with the play ‘Beuratges per a somiar despert’ and at 7:30 pm there will be a concert. The Tobairitz group will perform a medieval lyrical repertoire with a special interest in the manifestations of the trobairitz troubadours in Medieval Occitan.
Saturday, May 8, at 11:30 am, a storytelling activity is scheduled by Àngels Martínez, ‘Contes Medievals d’aquí i d’allà’. At 1:30 pm, the Reina Sofía Park will host a medieval musical show by Davinia Van Praag Dance Academy. In the afternoon, at 5:30 pm, there will be medieval and Renaissance dance, by the Dance Center and the Capricorn Studio and at 8:30 pm a concert by the Nouveau Quartett, with songs, fantasies and dances by minstrels and courtiers.
Sunday, May 9, there will be a new opportunity to enjoy the stories of Ángeles Martinez at 11:30 am. The program continues at 7 pm with an oriental dance show, a journey through dance, from the Maghreb to Saudi Arabia, with original costumes from each country.
People interested in attending the Medieval Market shows can buy tickets, with a symbolic price of 2 euros, on the website www.eivissa.es. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 3 at 10:00 am.
In addition to the shows, on the occasion of this celebration, the Madina Yabisa Interpretation Center has organized an itinerary to Dalt Vila on the medieval walls for May 8 and 9 from 10 am to 2 pm. Participants in these visits, which will have limited capacity, will receive as a gift the book ‘De la fortificació de Yviça’ by F. Cobos and A. Cámara.
