Universal Children’s Day
The Santa Eulària des Riu City Council has organized a month of activities to commemorate Universal Children’s Day promoted by Unicef. The proposals will have a playful part to attract the little ones, but will also be educational and will be aimed at disseminating the rights and obligations of minors. The vast majority of the proposals will be made online due to the restrictions arising from the coronavirus, although a face-to-face gymkhana will be held on December 5.
The planned activities will be extended from next Friday, November 20, in which an online session will be held with the children representing the municipality in the IX Children and Youth Parlament (actually, from Monday when several municipal buildings and the fountains of Plaza España and s’Alamera will light up in blue, the official colour of Universal Children’s Day) until Saturday, December 19, when the latest activities will be launched.
Due to the coronavirus restrictions, almost all the activities have been planned in an online format and can be followed through www.santaeulariaculturaijoventut.com. The idea is that each week a video-activity will be launched in which specific rights of minors will be discussed. Thus, one week we will talk about protection and solidarity, another about equality and understanding, another about education and fun, another about growth and care, while in the last week we will talk about diversity.
And as a complement to these video-activities, a participatory activity is carried out every week that will include crafts, cooking and the aforementioned gymkhana. Every Saturday the proposed activity, the conditions and how to participate will be revealed.
In addition to all these activities on Universal Children’s Day, on Thursday, December 3, the first plenary session for children and young people of this year is also scheduled to be held online.
