International Women’s Day (Sant Josep)
The City Council of Sant Josep de la Talaia has developed a program of activities for the next commemoration of International Women’s Day in which it is committed to participation and culture as a formula for raising awareness of inequality.
Seeking social involvement in the program, the first of the planned activities will be the recording of a podcast with a gender perspective of the “Meeting with notable women” cycle, in which it is planned to interview the psychologist and gender policy expert Maite Sarrió Catalá and also the artist Aida Miró, closely linked to the island, which will be held on March 5 at 8h30 pm at the Can Jeroni Culture Center, with live piano music.
The next day, photography will be the protagonist, specifically, the works received in the framework of the Women 2019 photo contest, with the best 27 snapshots, the exhibition “Women of the world” has been set up, which can be visited in Can Jeroni from the 6th of March at 7h30 pm until March 8. Women’s Day will be marked by the celebration of the Women’s Race, which will start from Can Cepillos, in Sant Jordi, to ses Figueretes, in Ibiza.
There is also space for the theater in this program, with the representation of the play ‘”Broken light”, which Iguana Teatre has set up and which focuses on the difficulties women suffered in Mallorca during the Franco regime, after the first conquests achieved during The Second Republic It will be on Saturday, March 14, at 8 pm and can be accessed by invitation, which can be requested from the Department of Culture and in Can Jeroni.
As for the little ones, there will be several storytelling sessions, the first one on March 13 in the library of Cala de Bou with the “Magical stories” of na Maritza, which will repeat session in the Vicent Serra Orvay library on March 20, both days at 6 pm, Encarna de las Heras will also give a storytelling session for equality with the title “We play” in the Vicent Serra Orva library, on March 19 at 5h30 pm.
