International Women’s Day (Santa Eulària)
The City Council of Santa Eulària des Riu organizes a series of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on March 8, which aims to influence the need to continue advancing in effective equality between women and men be part of this fight. The activities will begin on Wednesday, March 4 and will run until the 18th.
As for the activities, these will begin on March 4 with the eighth edition of the Short Film Exhibition “Proyección Igualdad” from 8h30 pm at the Teatro España. Admission is free. The cinema will continue to be part of the Women’s Day celebrations at the Teatro España with a special program.
Thus, between day 5 and day 8, there will be two daily sessions with “Mujercitas“, the film directed by Greta Gerwig that reads the classic characters of Louisa May Alcott, the March sisters, but focusing on characters with a perspective more modern and more aware of their virtues and strength as women. The film can be seen in English at 6 pm and in Spanish at 8h30 pm.
On Friday, March 6, workshops and activities will be held in the three Punto Joven of the municipality (Santa Eulalia, Puig d’en Valls and Jesus) and two exhibitions will be inaugurated. The first, at 7 pm, in the new Exhibition Hall on Santiago street of Santa Eulalia.
It will be open until March 31 and collects works by the painting students of the Siesta Group-Can Fita Sociocultural Center. The second, opened from 8 pm, can be seen in the Cultural Center of Jesus until the 27th. It is “Miradas”, which shows that it combines photography and poetry and is in charge of the sisters Cristina and Irene Alba.
The next day, on March 7, at the Cultural Center of Puig d’en Valls there will be a workshop aimed at families entitled “The need to manage emotions for well-being”, by Mari Cruz Royo, teacher, psychopedagogue and trainer in Emotional Education. The workshop will be held between 6 pm and 7h30 pm.
On Women’s Day, March 8, there will be children’s and youth activities with stories, murals and games to promote awareness of equality. It will be in the square of Isidor Macabich (canyon square) between 11 am and 1 pm. And in the afternoon, the Choir des Pla de Jesus, formed exclusively by women, will perform at the Cultural Center of Jesus offering the recital ‘When women sing’. Admission is free.
The program of activities will end on March 18 with the story session “La princesa Manzanilla“, by Encarna de las Heras. It is an activity organized by the Consell d’Eivissa recommended for children from 3 to 10 years. It will be done at the Teatro España from 6 pm. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
